The new 180-day rule was announced today by the New Mexico Public Education Department. We are reviewing the rule to ensure that SFPS' flexible 2024-25 school year calendar, adopted by the SFPS Board of Education in February, aligns with the new requirements. The start date for the 2024-25 school calendar will not be affected by this change. We thank you for your understanding and support as we work diligently on any needed updates. You can expect more details from us in the next few weeks.

The honorees are surprised with a certification, gift and recognized via the district’s platforms. Students, parents, teachers, secretaries, principals, community members, and any other stakeholder may nominate a classroom teacher and/or ESP for this honor by completing a paper nomination form at SFPS Central Office, 610 Alta Vista or online: www.sfps.info/page/outstanding-educators-recognition

Out of an abundance of caution, due to low temperatures, unclear side roads and possible ice across the district, all schools will be on a 2-hour delay today, January 9th, 2024, to provide additional time for buses to safely transport students to schools. We will have an update at 7 AM tomorrow. This means that buses will run two hours later than during normal times. If you drop your child off at school, please remember that staff will also be on a two-hour delay. Full-day Pre-K programs are also on a two-hour delay. Morning Pre-K programs have been canceled. Afternoon Pre-K programs will operate on a regular schedule.
